Clutched vs DocuSign

Last checked 20 October 2026

DocuSign is the best-known name in electronic signatures, used by businesses of every size to send documents for signature, with templates, bulk sending and payment collection on higher plans.

Clutched is different in scope: it creates the proposal, lets the client choose options, generates the agreement, collects signatures and raises the invoice. E-signatures are one part of the flow rather than the whole product.

How Clutched is different

The proposal and the signature in one place

With an e-signature tool you write the proposal elsewhere, then send a document to sign. In Clutched the client reads the proposal, picks options, sees the total and signs on the same page.

No envelope counting on Pro

DocuSign's eSignature plans include a set number of envelopes. Clutched's Pro plan has unlimited sends, and every plan includes e-signatures.

Payments and invoices included

Take the deposit when the client signs, by card through your own Stripe account or Direct Debit through GoCardless, with the first invoice raised automatically.

Your own PDFs too

Need to send an existing contract? Upload a PDF, place signature, date and text fields, and send it, with signing order and a certificate on the signed copy.

Which should you choose?

Choose DocuSign if you mainly need to send many kinds of documents for signature, or need enterprise e-signature features at scale.

Choose Clutched if you send proposals and agreements to clients and want selling, signing and getting paid in one flow. You can try it free with real clients, no card needed.

Questions

Are Clutched e-signatures legally binding?

Electronic signatures are recognised for most business agreements in the UK, EU and US. Every Clutched agreement records consent, each signer's details, time and IP address, and a fingerprint of the exact document, with a signing certificate. See our guide to e-signature law.

Can I send a contract that isn't a proposal?

Yes. Send any agreement, such as an NDA or statement of work, written in Clutched or uploaded as a PDF, with multiple signers and a signing order.
